Hallo Wrap Up

Our official Halloween photographer was the one and only, Doug Hill. He took over 200 photos of our spectacular shindig. It was difficult choosing the shots. I feel like this selection gives you an intimate peek into the diverse happenings and progression of the party. Enjoy.

These are the decorations: The photos don't depict the essence but the house was black light sensitive. Trippy. The decor was centered around one of Martha's crazy Halloween parties. It was suppose to resemble an abandoned mansion. This is my special concoction. It is infamously referred to as 'punch o' doom.' Apparently it causes hangovers. Minor affect of good vodka. Guns may be my guilty pleasure... Only a man would bring a switchblade to a gun fight. POW! Sometimes you just have to dance alone. Like no one is watching, or taking photos. She really is an 'evil genius.' Nick appears in helmet. Barb (center) won the costume contest. She's a riot! Me Jane! Man eater! My mom as the scarecrow. Another luchadore? I think he was threatening Barb. No throw down occurred, to bad. I would have placed my bet on Barb. Multiplying guns. Russ didn't dress up but we still let him in. This photo made up for his refusal to conform. They danced the dance.

Doug's into biting. I have to make it clear that he encouraged these photos and I'm not sorry. Halloween mascot. Bite the weenie. Bite the spider. Bite Barb. Bite Russ. Russ digs bites. This was more of a taste than a bite. They're allowed after 32 years of marriage. Stout. Cheese dip, huge hit, especially after I licked the serving spoon. Oct. 31 circa 1am. Is this party over yet? I can't wait to top this next year!

Spill Spill

I'm on a role, feeling confident. Yesterday evening on my way back from Chandler I stopped by the coffee shop. I needed a little quiet time and some inspiration. I sat at a table by the window and sketched my surroundings. I had some pastel pencils and I was feeling colorful. I also drew the barista from Coffee Slingers. What a character. They use red tumblers, it sticks with youToday Norman was blessed with another day of fabulous weather. I washed my car, removed some Halloween decorations and took a stroll on my bike. I stopped by the park and did some more sketching. [Beware] I started thinking about the cars I saw yesterday and the idea of 'American Muscle.' In conclusion: I don't think I left much to the imagination. I guess that's a sign I'm sure, similar to working crosswords in pen. Solace through vulgarity.

Halloween Travels

My Halloween extravaganza was Friday evening and Saturday (Oct. 31) was OU's homecoming game. Needless to say, I had to get out of Norman. I decided to jump on Route 66 and visit my dear Chandler on a gorgeous fall afternoon. I almost forgot it was Halloween. They did have pumpkins lining the downtown.Popcycles line 66.
While I was snapping this photo some classic cars came haulin' down the street. It was so serendipitous, my heart fluttered. I proceeded to walk down the street to Hite's drug store. On my way there were more cars. Oh the cars! I decided I need a studio/gallery in Chandler's downtown. I would just sit outside my storefront in a rocking chair swooning over the history and that American muscle. Chandler is very hilly and with the leaves turning you could see for miles. It was an unbelievable day. Photos could never capture the nostalgia and charm. I needed a 'mental health day.' Saturday was it, and it just happened to be Halloween (my favorite holiday). I wish I could have towed my bike and stayed for days. I could use a break, a little fresh air. It was a tremendously, surreal Halloween visit to my 'home away from home.' Welcome November!

Winner's Circle.

I'm pleased to present the winners of the costume contest and the pumpkin carving contest. My sassy compadre, Barb (right), won the costume contest with her female version of a luchadore. Formally addressed as, Senora Muerta. And, my adorable cousin, Carmen (left) won the pumpkin carving/decorating contest with her lovely rendition of the Halloween Transvestite, Dr. Frank-n-Furter: Each winner got a prize which was hand made but the hostesses. Carmen chose my creation: Need more? Until tomorrow... Ya'll come back now, ya here?

Witches Brew

The party last night was a major hit. I was still hearing about it today, late afternoon as soon as the affects of libations had worn off. There will be more photos to follow but to ease your anxiety I will post some. I'm a tease. Beware the venom. Bullets+liquor=sassy hostess. She risked her life to make this party. Wanted: Bill, The Runaway Bride. Bang! Bang! We had black lights. I was hoping the Allman Brothers would show up. Creepiest costume: human scare crow.

Stay tuned for more photos. You'll enjoy them and probably be sorry you missed it! Until next year...
