Need More

Would you like to see more from my last Tulsa trip? Couldn't get enough? Check out Taraneh's blog. She posted a few more images and Tulsa inspired intentions. If you've never been to the big "T" then I suggest making the trip. It's worth it. Lively city without that super pompous, yuppie aura (although, oddly enough, there are masses of yuppies around, choose your destination wisely?).

Thankfully Tuesday

Oh today was such a great day. Phew. I was worried. Sometimes we need a day to snap back into reality. Yesterday was that day. Last weekend was so magnificent I must have lost track of my responsibilities. It's a good feeling, I long for it always.

Anyway, today was comprised of many prize winning aspects. First, I completed my artist statement. A weight has been lifted. I politely asked Doug Hill (of the Hill Duo) to edit it for me. He writes a car column for the Norman Transcript and some food reviews for the Gazette. He got the revision back to me in jiffy and it's amazing. He was able to conserve my content while still making it read like a pro. I can see why they pay people to edit.

I also bought my ticket to Los Lobos and went to the gym this evening. I'm pumped. I feel like I could stay up for days. I have so much motivation and energy. To bad I must sleep. In the midst of all this commotion I still managed to squeeze in some much needed studio time. I still haven't begun my graduate portfolio (Uh, I could use a distraction from all my deadlines) because I'm busy playing catch up. I have too may projects outlined in my sketchbook and I'm trying to preserve the order in which they spawned. What to do...

Good news, I do have a strong idea for my portfolio submission. I just have to knock out this last project and then I'll be good to go. I should also mention Triple Threat Talent has officially mailed their application for the Deluxe Indie Craft Bazaare in December. Be prepared to buy Christmas gifts from us! I also plan on submitting a proposal for the Momentum Spotlight, due Nov. 9th. See, I have to much to much on my plate. That's why I'm making a cyber laundry list. I need your help. Remind me, push me, make me meet these deadlines! It's for the greater good. Again, good news, I already have an idea for the Momentum proposal, now it's time to deal with all that red tape.

Amongst all this self inflicted pain, I have managed to create. I have proof. I was here about ten minutes ago: The pink will be the real deal. Warning: This is a test, only a test. A successful learning experience. Great way to end the day.

The project is a ways from finished but it's a true beginning. This snazzy technique is known as Image transfer via gel medium, so versatile. Das Uber Goodness! If you're interested I can give you a rundown. Otherwise, just sit and enjoy the lovely aesthetic. Well, that's sneak peek at my recent endeavors. More to come. Shower and then beddie-by. Tata.

Monday Madness

Ugh. Thank goddess it's almost over. Nothing less than what you would expect out of a Monday. Flat tire, failed plans, a little unexplained blues, and a missed deadline. I guess it's a bill for playing to much last weekend. Oh well, I'd do it all over again.

On the upbeat, I had some spectacular green chili stew and corn bread for supper! Much love to the Hill Duo, love 'em! They also told me Los Lobos was going to be playing in Norman the 28th! I haven't seen them live but that's soon to change. Their album, Kiko, has been in my car since I purchased my wheels five years ago. It's a staple. I'm ecstatic!

I also cut this beast about five minutes ago: It's a stamp. I decided to take a break from cutting stencils. A little relief, thinking in a completely different manner. Always good to change it up. I have big plans for this stamp. I bet you're thinking it's real lame but just wait.

Well, I need to close my eyes and attempt to power down. I can't wait to wake up to a new day. Toodles.

Mama Said

there'd be days like this. Do you ever feel like this?

Today's a Monday Monday. Yawn.

From The Depths

If you know me then you will be surprised to see a sketch from my sketchbook. I have stated that I'm trying to become more open about the books contents but it comes in waves. Today has been an Ani Difranco/Patsy Cline day so I felt like this sketch was appropriate. I drew this Friday night while sitting with T and sipping some really bad coffee. There's an interesting story behind it but I can't afford to spill it and the visual. Therefore, your stuck with the sketch and a brief explanation. While contemplating the meaning of life, people, and complex social structures, I came to the conclusion that there are two types of people: "Cat people" and "dog people." This is nothing profound but I was attempting to break it down.

I'm a dog person- an open book, happy go lucky, social butterfly. The cat person is, well, like a cat- Aloof, mysterious, engages only under their terms, a bench warmer. I have a hard time understanding or having patience with "cat people." So in some ways, this is a self portrait. The rest is left up to you. Enjoy.

Midwest Penguins.

Tulsa trip was successful in several ways. We covered all the planned destinations and then some. We also had heaps of fun! Remember mention of the Tulsa Penguins? If not, see here. Well, when we arrived we decided five was the number. We would find five different penguins and make them hold still long enough for a photo. I'm going to be direct here. We failed! We only found four. I found three of them and T found one. She's not a seasoned penguin hunter, yet. I asked the waiter at Lucky's if he could help us find one more. He told us of one that sounds like a little slice of heaven but we never found it. Apparently it's a plus and minus penguin in front of the drug testing joint. We spent a good half hour trying to find it. I'm convinced his directions were faulty, it was no "operator error." Next time. The waiter also may have muttered the purpose of the odd penguins but I covered my ears, he gave me a sideways look at this gesture. Without further ado: The first one, Stella the Stewardess, sassy lady. Hildegaard the Happy Camper. Slap-a-Bitch! We didn't get this guys name. He was in front of a bail bonds place, that's why I'm being so reserved. They could see us in those windows behind me and,we had to jump up in their landscaping bed. We were trying to be quick.

We discussed the penguins names and how they were all based around alliteration. I figured if I were part of the "Penguin Project" I would have probably been stuck naming the 'Q.' I quickly spouted off, "Quincy the Queer." (Pardon my lack of Political correctness. You shall know, I love and support gays and gay marriage). Since this guy didn't have a name and he's wearing pink heels, I deem him, 'Quincy the Queer!'

As the night carried on, things became a little less reserved, bordering raunchy. I can't even blame alcohol. I didn't drink a drop. This guy was my favorite. I had to bow for this one. He's the one that took it to the gutter, I'm innocent. You guys watch out for "Willie P. the Wild One," especially after dark.
